What are Weingarten rights?

Weingarten rights provide that an employee, upon request, may have his/her union representative present when the employee is questioned by the employer about an issue that may result in discipline.  The name is derived from the case in which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld these rights. NLRB v. J. Weingarten, Inc. 420 U.S. 251 (1975).
